Swansea 2 Manchester City 3: City Seals Victory at Swansea.

Manchester City’s Aleksandar Kolarov scored a superb strike to earn a 3-2 win at Swansea as the ‘Sky Blues’ moved top of the Premier League standings on New Year Day with Arsenal having a game at Cardiff. Wilfried Bony almost proved a point, but City would have just a couple of hours to enjoy the zenith while it lasts.

Fernadinho shot the visitors into the lead after fourteen minutes of play, Manuel Pellegrini’s men had Ivorian Bony to contend with, coming up with a brace at the Liberty Stadium.

Yaya Toure’s restored City’s lead after the break before Kolarov let fly a right-footed shot past Swansea’s goalkeeper Ben Davies. Edin Dzeko threatened to place city ahead but it was another Ivory Coast player that scored to reduce the hosts’ deficit in injury-time.

Fernadinho’s brilliantly controlled shot, after the Welsh club failed to convert a corner gave City a foothold to victor in the game with Pablo Hernandez already out of Michael Laudrop’s formation.

When it appeared Swansea were restricting the visitors from going clear at the top of the standing, Toure moved the ball from the edge of the box, spinning past three defenders, before firing into the bottom corner.

Kolarov sealed a fantastic display at the end of the first-half, evading Swansea’s defence and drove a deflected shot home. Swansea looked like a team to prove a point in the later stages as Bony reduced the deficit on the second minutes of added-time but City held on to a nervy victory.
