Single Term Pact: Nyako’s A Lost Sheep – Presidency

Published

on

murtala nyakoThe Presidency on Thursday lampooned Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State over his recent allegation that President Goodluck Jonathan indeed signed a document with some Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governors agreeing to serve for a single term.

Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Mr. Ahmed Gulak, in an interview with PUNCH described the Adamawa governor’s claim as a ranting of a man who was dead politically.

But Nyako, through his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Ahmad Sajoh, hit back at Gulak, an indigene of the state, saying he had no political life.

The Presidential aide, who was reacting to a statement credited to Nyako on Tuesday while speaking with reporters in Yola, the state capital, that Jonathan signed a single tenure agreement, said the governor, who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress from the ruling PDP, was a lost sheep, who no longer knew where he belonged to.

Nyako had while making veiled reference to the president as a man without honour and integrity, told reporters that “The Niger State governor has the agreement. We want to deal with people with honour, not people who want to drag us into civil war because of impunity, because of lawlessness, because of not fulfilling their pledges that will only take us to civil war”.

But Gulak insisted that apart from the various public statements he had made to clarify that his principal did not sign any one-term pact, noted that the president had personally dealt with the matter extensively at different fora.

He added that the presidency would rather address fresh issues than get entangled in a matter that had been dealt with.

He said, “We have finished with the issue of the alleged single term agreement long time ago.

“I have talked about it many times and the President himself has come out to speak on it to the effect that there is no such agreement anywhere.

“I prefer we talk about something new. I also prefer we talk with people who are serious.

“Nyako is a lost sheep. He does not know where he is at the moment.

“His statement is nothing but a ranting of a man who is dead politically”.

However, Sajoh said it was now evident that Gulak lacked values, honour and political relevance.

According to Sajoh, “Gulak never had a political life. It’s a pity that it is a person like him that is speaking on behalf of the President.

“This man lacks values; he is without honour. Governor Nyako has been upright in his personal and official dealings and he will remain so”.

Success is likened to a personality that is selective of friends and companions. Success do select good planners and takers of opportunities as friends and companions. Yes! Virtually EVERYONE have prayed and is desirous of the best in the year. As it is commonly said ‘If wishes were horses, beggers will ride’. But success is reserved only for those who seizes opportunities and make good use of them. The decisions we make today determines our tomorrow. The action or inaction of a man will either be regretted or appreciated. Some people who SAW while others were LOOKING sought for money to purchase some plots of land at the present Lekki Peninsula when a plot of land in that area was been sold for as low as between N450,000 and N1m; are reaping the benefits now that its now been sold for as high as N130m. Some heard of it then and ignored it or never believed such an area could develop (as it was then called maroco), bringing about drastic appreciation of properties in the area. Lekki Free Trade Zone, The New International Airport, The Deep Seaport (which will be the second in Africa after that in South Africa), The Lagos Industrial site, Eleganza Industrial site, The Permanent site of PAN Africa University and many more developmental projects are springing up in Epe, Ibeju Lekki and their axis. Blue Chip Companies are now acquiring hecters of land in that area. Just for the ones
that have foresight and will take action while others are ignoring, PWAN HOMES LTD is now selling Estate Lands for as low as between N450,000 and N1.5m at Ajah, Ibeju Lekki and their environs. These prices are tentative and will change SOON. Some of these lands are with title such as C of O, Global C of O while some are awaiting title. Omo onile problem have been wiped off. Coup plotters know nothing else than war, war, war. Nyako has forgotten we are in a civil rule, run by civilized people. If Nyako’s war ever came, Nyako’s head will be the first to be smashed by the first shot

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic  Party (PDP) Chief Bode George has described the collection of internally generated revenue in Lagos state by a private firm called AlphaBeta, which earns around N7.5bn ($19 million) monthly as sacrilegious.

“There are so many leakages in the Lagos State Government purse. Take this AlphaBeta; who owns this AlphaBeta? What is the essence of the AlphaBeta? Where else in the world would you have an Inland Revenue Service, who have their own staff who are supposed to go out and collect the fees, but you have an independent company to be supposedly collecting the internally generated revenue from our state?

“It grosses around N50bn (about $130m) a month and you know how much that company (AlphaBeta) is paid 15% of it, that’s N7.5bn in thirty days going to the company, that is a leakage, that is sacrilegious.”
