No Oscar YET, For Chiwetel Ejiofor + Full List Of Oscar Winners

The 71st Oscar awards held on January 12, 2014 at the Beverly Hilton with 2013 British-American epic historical drama film ‘12 Years a Slave‘ winning the coveted award for‘Best Motion Picture‘.

12 Years of a Slave‘ is an adaptation of the 1853 autobiography by Solomon Northup, a New York State-born free negro who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C. in 1841 and sold into slavery. It received seven nominations along with ‘American Hustle‘.

Sadly, the British and Nigerian actor — Chiwetel Ejiofor (who plays the protagonist Solomon Northup in the movie) lost out in the two categories he was nominated. Ejiofor was up for ’Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture‘ but lost to actor Matthew McConaughey for his role in ‘Dallas Buyers Club‘.

Ejiofor also lost in the category of ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television‘.

He was nominated for his role in 2013 TV series ‘Dancing on the Edge‘ but lost to Michael Douglas for his role in ‘Behind the Candelabra’.
