FC Barcelona have confirmed that Brazilian wonderkid Neymar Jr. will be out for three to four week after spraining his right ankle in the Catalans’ 2-0 win at Getafe in the Copa del Rey on Thursday.
Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino had earlier said he does not believe 21-year-old will be out for a significant period of time stressing: “It could have been much worse, but the doctors have reassured us and it will be them who decide how long he is out for.”
Neymar was subbed out for Alexis after been examined by the team doctors. The initial tests show that the Brazilian has sprained the peroneal tendon in his right ankle.
Lionel Messi scored both goals on his first start since returning from a hamstring injury as Barca reached the quarter-finals 6-0 on aggregate, where they will face Levante.
He is likely to miss the two-legged last eight clash against Levante later this month, the home league game against Valencia and may return for the trip to Sevilla, both next month.
