Jonathan Goes Spiritual Over 2015, PDP Crisis

Published

on

president-goodluck-ebele-jonathan-official_portraitPresident Goodluck Jonathan may have decided to go spiritual to overcome the storm facing him and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over his non-verbal declaration for the 2015 presidential elections.

It was learnt that that throughout last month, several prayer meetings which centered on the lingering PDP crisis and the president’s safety were held inside the Aso Rock presidential villa.

Mr. Jonathan, who does not hide his preference for taking refuge in the prayers of the church for the nation and himself in particular, in spite of the highest level of security around him, is said not to be unmindful of the forces working to undermine his administration in every way possible including through spiritual warfare.

“We are not unaware of the devices of the devil, who will not be happy seeing Nigeria coming out of the logjam; we have to stand in the gap for the country and the president. It is the responsibility of the church to stand in the gap for the leadership of the country with a view to ushering in peace”, a participant in the meetings said.

In the “Prayer Guide,” which was seen by one of our correspondents, the participants interceded for Nigeria, the PDP and President Jonathan.

One of the prayer points at the Saturday, December 28, 2013, prayer session was: “Pray for God’s intervention in the ruling party’s internal crises to enable them achieve God’s plan and purpose for Nigeria before, during and after 2015 – Psalm 33:10-11”.

They also asked “God to protect, guide, strengthen, and encourage President Jonathan and the rest of our leaders and their families at all levels – Joshua 1:8”.

On Wednesday, December 25, 2013, the prayer meeting asked “God to cause our legislators to put national interest above tribal, religious and personal interest in the discharge of their legislative duties – Ecclesiastes 9:10, 1 Corinthians 4:2”.

The prayer session ended on December 31 with the intercessors asking “the Lord to halt every secret attempt on the life of Mr President, preserve him, his family and his administration to fulfil God’s purpose for Nigeria and frustrate those engaged in the drumbeat of anarchy and war -Zechariah 2:5, 8 2 Corinthians 10:4-5”.

2023 Presidency: Bode George Cautions Buhari About Tinubu

2023 Presidency: Bode George Cautions Buhari About Tinubu

Bode George, Tinubu

Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against supporting Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 Presidency.

Bode George made this remark in a statement titled, “The jamboree visit to the Villa: My Birthday Offering.”

The former National Port Authority boss warned Buhari against falling to the antics of those who would ignore the issues of Lagos State to engage in a needless scheming in partisan engagement.

Bode-George also condemned the recent visit of some APC chieftains, Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the State House, Abuja.

The PDP chieftain said: “The visit of Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the seat of power in Abuja is needless, unnecessary, veiled in some poorly hidden agenda that is woven in apparently self-serving ulterior personalised desperation.

“It is easy to discern that the visit is stripped of any patriotic progression, lacking in balanced national leadership, voided of a spirit of sacrifice and developmental vision. The very absence of Bola Tinubu from the jamboree screams to high heavens that the meeting itself is a covert placatory softening of the ground for Tinubu himself. I am pretty certain that in his very absence, Tinubu occupies the centrality of the discussion.

“I will advise Baba Akande who governed Osun State with principled, incorruptible leadership to kindly help us drop off Bola Tinubu at Iragbiji as he makes his way back to Ila-Orangun, rather than engaging in fruitless pleading sessions for a man who is fixated on a warped pipe-dream about governing Nigeria. He should pay restitution for the egregious stripping of the Lagosian coffers.”
