Falconets Beat South Africa 1-0 to Claim 2014 World Cup Berth.

Nigeria’s under-20 women’s team have booked a place in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, after beating South Africa 1-0 in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Striker Adeboyejo Yetunde scored the the match winner in the first-half as the Falconets sealed a 7-0 aggregate victory against Batsesana.

They become the first African team to qualify for the 2014 women’s under-20 World Cup- billed for Canada- making them the only team from the continent to have featured in every edition of the championship since its inception in 2002 (incidentally in Canada).

Their best performance came in 2010 in Germany, where they lost to the host in the final.

  1. Nigeria should encourage our young women to play football (like me I can play very well, just need a little training & would want to play for Falcons).
