Woman Sent To Prison Over Neighbour’s Death

A 27-year-old woman, Lydia Ezon has been remanded at the Kirikiri Prisons by an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, yesterday, remanded over alleged murder of her neighbour, Musa Salaudeen.

Ezon, who resides at 76, Cemetery Road, Amukoko, Lagos, is facing a charge of unlawful killing.

Prosecutor, Inspector Feddy Asu told the court that the accused committed the offence on November 16 at 8.00 a.m. at her residence.

He said the deceased Salaudeen, a co-tenant of the accused, pushed him during a fight and was later confirmed dead.

“The accused and the deceased’s brother had a misunderstanding. The accused reported the case to the police and the deceased was detained for questioning.

“Following his release, Salaudeen went to Ezon’s residence, shouting and abusing her father.

“The accused came out and pushed the deceased and in the process, he fell down and was later confirmed dead,” the prosecutor said.

He said the offence contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Magistrate O. A. Ogunkanmi ordered the accused person to remain in prison pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The case was adjourned to Janury 20 for mention.
