The Rivers State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned the leader of the six anti-Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi lawmakers, Mr. Evans Bipi, to desist from further parading himself as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

The APC on Thursday cautioned that Bipi, who represents Ogu/Bolo State constituency in the House of Assembly, could risk spending the Christmas season in jail if he refuses to adhere to the dictates of the court.

Recall that a Rivers High Court sitting in Ahoada had restrained the lawmaker from parading himself as the Speaker of the State Assembly but Bipi has vowed not to respect the order which he said was given by a “Kangaroo court”.

Issuing the warning in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs, Chief Chukwuemeka Eze, APC Interim State Chairman, Dr. Davies Ikanya added that since Bipi had been barred from parading himself as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, it was necessary for him to respect the court ruling.

The party said, “Hon. Bipi is obviously playing with fire as he has been barred from parading himself as Speaker by a court of competent jurisdiction.

“The order of the High Court of Rivers State, Ahoada Judicial Division, given on Monday, December 16, 2013, is unequivocal. He (Bipi) should also note that none of his sponsors will come to his aid when he is committed to prison.

“His Lordship, Hon. Justice C. N. Wali, in his judgement, did not only bar Hon. Bipi, but also declared that we have one single House of Assembly in Rivers State under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Amachree.

“We expect the rebel lawmakers to fall in line and respect the leadership of the House and avoid further heating up of the polity. They should come to terms with the fact that their plot has fallen like a pack of cards”, the statement read.
