N8bn Ecological Funds To APGA: Ngige Requires Psychiatric Examination – Umeh

chris ngige-The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh has denied the allegation that his party collected N8bn from the Federal Government to prosecute the recently concluded controversial governorship election in Anambra State.

Umeh stated this on Monday while fielding questions from journalists after a stakeholders’ forum organised by the Senate Committee on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the Anambra elections, Senator Chris Ngige had at the South East zonal meeting of the party in Owerri, Imo State, alleged that the FG had given Gov. Peter Obi N8 billion under the guise of ecological funds, to rig him out of the race.

But an obviously enraged Umeh said the allegation was not only false but wicked.

He said, “Who made the allegation? I want you to mention names. I think Dr. Chris Ngige requires psychiatric examination for the reason that the type of the defeat he suffered in the election, he has not been able to come to term with it.

“He has busied himself trying to justify why he lost. But clearly before the election, I had told him that he had no chance in the election. There was this screaming headline in one of the national dailies that ‘APGA will beat Ngige silly, says Umeh’; that was two months to the election.

“I come from the state and I know the issues involved and I know that the people will not vote for him. So, what he is trying to say now is to tell people who gave him money, people he misled to believe that he is going to win and that he is popular, why he lost”.

The APGA national chairman said it was unfortunate that “a senator of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria can make such an unfounded allegation that the Federal Government gave Anambra State N8bn ecological fund to go and rig elections”.
