LMC, Clubs, Could Be At Loggerhead Again.

Another feud between the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs and the League Management Company (LMC) is brewing up over plans for an abridged 2013/14 season.

Such plan was likewise in the offing before kick-off of the outgone season, but later discarded following protests by majority of the clubs.

The forthcoming league season is expected to begin after the 2014 African Championship (CHAN), by which time the club licensing programme is expected to have been completed.

The season will be due for its completion by May 2014 ahead of the Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

Reports suggests the LMC are now likely to split the 20-team championship into two groups with the top two clubs from each group playing out a round-robin playoff to determine the league champion due to the tight schedule.

Clubs arguing against the league format insists it drastically reduces funding by the sponsors.
