president-goodluck-ebele-jonathan-official_portraitPresident Goodluck Jonathan said on Monday in Abuja that his administration would continue to ensure equity in the distribution of development projects across the country without religion, ethnicity or creed playing any role.

The President gave the assurance at his investiture with the rank of Knight Grand Cross by the Noble Communion and Holy Apostolic Order of St. Hadrian of Canterbury at the Presidential Villa.

Jonathan said that he would treat all Nigerians equal and always encourage others to do same.

He restated his commitment to service, adding that his administration would also continue to improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

The President said that receiving such religious awards would spur him to be up and doing.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the President was decorated by Archbishop Doye Agama assisted by Rev. Duke Akamisoko, the Anglican Bishop of Kubwa, Abuja.

Agama said that Jonathan was conferred with the honour in his position as the Head of State of the “Giant of Africa”, carrying the hopes and aspirations of Nigerians.

“The appointment is especially in recognition of your continuing steady yet progressive piloting the Nigerian Ship of State.

“It also marked your record breaking stewardship of the freest and fairest elections ever held in this great nation, in 2011.

“Subsequent to the reordering of our ranks along chivalric lines, we are here today to invest you with the insignia of the Knight Grand Cross of this Order.

“The position is reserved for Heads of State, Senior Royalty and highest Ecclesiastical Office.

“We believe this may be prophetic of other greater investitures to come.”

Agama recalled the previous Award of Distinguished Fellow Emeritus of the Order conferred on the President in 2009.

He said that President Jonathan was also elevated to the rank in Membership of Apostolic Order of St. Hadrian of Canterbury as Life Fellow Emeritus of the Order in 2011.

Agama said that the President has the honour to nominate future awardees that truly meet the award. (NAN)
