If You Can’t Win; Don’t Lose- Wilshere Positive About Sunday’s Draw.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is contented with Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Everton at the Emirate.

Substitute Gerard Deulofeu scored a late equaliser to help Everton share the spoil with the league leaders and deny the hosts a seven-point lead at the top of the table, after Mesut Ozil had opened scoring four minutes earlier.

Despite the draw, the ‘Gunners’ are five points clear of Liverpool, their nearest rivals at the top.

Chelsea’s defeat to Stoke and the Britannia Stadium and Manchester City’s draw at Southampton means Arsenal are edging closer to maintaining a realistic lead into Christmas.

“I think before the game you would take a point considering the weekend (results),” Wilshere told Arsenal’s official website.

“If you can’t win the game, don’t lose the game. But when we go 1-0 up we expect to win the game, especially when there is eight or so minutes to go. We’re disappointing with that, but overall we’ll take a point.”

Everton kept the ball better than their opponents in the first-half before Arsenal reclaimed possession after the break. The Toffees goalkeeper Tim Howard was at his best, denying Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud goalscoring opportunities.

“I’d say (Everton have been our toughest opponents this season). We played Tottenham here as well which was a tough game, but Everton always come here and they do well,” Wilshere added.

“I remember last year (against them) it was probably our toughest game as well, we drew 0-0. They’re a strong team, they’ve got a new manager as well so they play a different way but they’re still just strong. They took the game to us in the first-half.”
