FG Promises To Complete East-West Road

Vice President Namadi Sambo has promised that the East-West Road would be delivered by the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking, yesterday, during the thanksgiving service of the national vice chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, South- South, Dr. Stephen Oru, held at Ughelli, Delta State, assured that the Federal Government would continue to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Delta State and Niger Deltans in general.

While stressing the need for the people to give thanks to God in appreciation of His goodness upon their lives,
Sambo thanked God for delivering Dr Oru from the cold hands of death.

Describing Oru as a great leader, Sambo said his relationship with Oru spanned over 40 years.

He thanked the people of South-South for their support for the administration of President Jonathan, and also expressed his appreciation to the people of Ughelli kingdom and Oru family for their support and prayers for Dr Oru.

In his remarks, Chairman of the occasion, Chief Tony Anenih said Oru went through the valley of death but God delivered him.

Anenih, who was represented by the Minister of Works, Mr. Mike Onolememen, described Oru as a man of faith. He added that Oru was one of the strong pillars of the PDP in the country.

Also speaking, Delta State governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, said the people of the state were firmly united behind President Goodluck Jonathan, describing the President as a son of the South-South.

According to him, “the people of Delta State will continue to support Jonathan. God brought him to lead Nigeria at this time and I want to thank Vice President Namadi Sambo for his support for our son.”

Earlier in a homily, Most Rev John Afereha, Catholic Bishop of Warri Diocese, stressed the need for Nigerians to continue to thank God for His mercies upon their lives, saying the country would be greater if Nigerians cultivated the habit of thanksgiving.

Dr Oru in his address, thanked Vice President Sambo, Chief Anenih, Governor Uduaghan and others for their support during his travail.
