FG, PDP, Presidency Have Become Reckless, Dishonest And Out Of Touch With Reality – APC Govs

APC GovsGovernors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday berated the Federal Government, Presidency and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, describing them as dishonest and completely insensitive to the basic requirement of protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.

The governors, who made this known in their Christmas message to Nigerians under the aegis of Progressives Governors’ Forum, PGF, said there was enough evidence to prove that the Federal Government and the ruling party were out of touch with Nigerians and should no longer be trusted.

The statement which was issued in Abuja by the Director-General of the PGF, Salihu Lukman, was signed by Governors Babatunde Fashola (Lagos), Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa) and Adams Oshiomhole (Edo).

Others were Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Kashim Shettima (Borno), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Tanko Al-makura (Nasarawa) Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), Ibrahim Gaidam (Yobe) and Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara).

The governors noted that 2013 was coming to an end with its attendant problems, which they said the Federal Government could not grapple with and called on Nigerians to be ready to seize and shape their destiny in 2014.

Their statement said, “Against the background of today’s Federal Government that steers the affairs of the nation based on convenience rather than constitutionality, Nigerians have been reduced to helpless observers of a presidency that is only efficient in weakening its moral authority, making it difficult to relate with other levels and tiers of government in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

“The hard and incomprehensible reality is that the Presidency, federal government and ruling PDP have become reckless, dishonest and completely insensitive to minimum requirement of protecting the lives and property of Nigerians.

“Government, as far as the conduct of the federal government shows, is all about the political aspirations of functionaries of government, notably Mr. President”.

Fashola: If We Keep Our Promises, APC Will Retain Power In 2023Babatunde Fashola

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola has expressed optimism that Nigerians will still vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) back to power in 2023.

Fashola, however, added that the only thing that can make Nigerians not to vote for the APC is if the party fails to fulfill its campaign promises to them.

The Minister made this remark while speaking with journalists on Monday in Abuja.

He noted that even if the promises are not 100% fulfilled but the citizens see signs of commitment and progress, other parties should forget about displacing APC in 2023.

The former Lagos State Governor added that opposition parties are not doing better than the APC, hence should not expect Nigerians to vote for them come 2023.

He said: “Some governors have joined us, from where we think we could not get voters before. To retain power in 2023, certainly if we keep our promises, people will vote for us. It is that simple, that is politics,” the former Lagos governor said.

“If you do what you say you will do, even if you don’t do hundred percent and they see that you are making progress, they will even want you to finish what you started.”
