Nigeria’s only representative at the 28th Africa Champions Cup for Men (ACCM) holding in Sousse, Tunisia, Kano Pillars, won Burundi side Urunani 38-72 in a rescheduled Day 1 pairing on Sunday.

It was the Burundians’ third loss on the trot as the Nigerian Premier Basketball League champions came out tops in all four quarters of the match.

Dele Ademola led Pillars with 17 points and 5 rebounds, Abubakar Usman came up with 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Pillars were already maintaining a 38-19 lead, going into the break after displacing their opponents 13-21 in the first quarter and 06-17 in the second.

On resumption of play, the Nigerians extended their dominance by 07-20 in the third-quarter and finished off a superlative display with 12-14 points in the final period to move up to the third spot in Group B.

Up next for Kano Pillars is a game against Clube Recreativo do Libolo of Angola on Monday at 20H00.

Urunani will hope to earn a first win against Malabo Kings of Equatorial Guinea at 12H00 on Monday.

Louis Edem added 11 points and 5 rebounds for Pillars while Abdulwahab Yahaya made 10 points and 13 rebounds.
