PDP Stakeholders Vow To Recapture Oyo, S’West States From Opposition Parties

pdp-logoPeoples Democratic Party stakeholders in Oyo State have ended their peace meeting in Abuja with a call to close ranks and recapture the South-West from opposition parties in the 2015 general elections.

Part of the resolutions reached at the meeting was the commitment to ensure a victory for the PDP in future elections in Oyo State and the entire South-West region.

The stakeholders, who passed a vote of confidence in the Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, also urged him to empower more members of PDP in the zone.

Several observations and recommendations were made and all the stakeholders resolved to speak with one voice.

Convener of the meeting and former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Yekini Adeojo, who spoke with reporters on the outcome of the meeting, said the time had come for all PDP members in the state to bury the hatchet and chart a way forward.

According to him, PDP members in Oyo State have decided to seek ways of working as a team.

He said, “We’ve gone through; we’ve seen most of the things that have been happening in Oyo State. There have been a lot of frictions between the ranks and files of PDP in Oyo State and we thought it wisely that this time around, we should be able to forge ahead.  Let’s settle the differences between us and bring our structures together.

“We are all forging ahead; we are all forgetting our differences. We want to be united and we want to make sure that we will win Oyo State back to the PDP in 2015. This meeting portrays a good omen; this is a new dawn and by the grace of God the new dawn has come.

“We are family, we’ve been in the party together and we had the party together. All the APC governors are not doing fine; we want to take it back from them. That’s all and by the grace of God everybody will be happy.”

Former Oyo State governor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, who was among stakeholders that attended the parley, stressed the need for PDP members in the state to forget their differences and form a formidable team against the opposition party.
