Oba Erediauwa of Benin, yesterday, said that Governor Adams Oshiomhole has “done very well” in his five years as governor of Edo State.

Speaking at his palace, when the governor paid him a courtesy visit to present the scorecard of the first year of his second term, the monarch expressed satisfaction with the scorecard which the governor reeled out, saying he would not relent in his prayers for the governor to sustain the good work.

“You have done very well, all that you have done for the state. I can say this openly, I often pray for you to our ancestors to keep you going, and to keep your treasury going. I want you to keep the flag flying.

“All the roads you have done and are still doing, I want to thank you very much. There is one road you want to do which is very close to me, Adesogbe, I hear you want to repair it and I thank you for it.”

Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, also described Governor Oshiomhole’s administrative style as a model for the kind of good governance which Nigeria needs today.

Gowon said this yesterday, during a courtesy visit to the governor in Benin City.

“I thank you for all the good things you are doing for this state. I am a witness to it and I am delighted to see you. It is always a pleasure to see you.

“I am also delighted to meet your cabinet and thank them for the great support and advice they have been giving you to achieve these great things. You have a vision and you are a motivator, which has made you to achieve all these. You have been able to achieve many of the things you set for yourself. The support of your team and the vision of the governor have led to the kind of good governance which we need very badly in Nigeria today,”

Speaking earlier, Oshiomhole stated that government would sustain the pace of work in the three senatorial districts.

“When I came in for the second term, I did promise that we would continue with the projects we started and when they are completed, we will take on fresh ones. We have completed the Airport Road and it is a beautiful sight with six lanes and purpose-built bus stops. We are trying to plant palm trees in the median of the road.

“We have also constructed six roads off the Airport Road. We have completed the Five Junction with drainage under the ground, that means that the flooding problem in that area has been solved,” Oshiomole said.
