Obi Commences N400m Maternity Projects Across Anambra State

Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has laid the foundation stone for the multi-million maternity and child care centre at Ugwuagba Obosi.

Governor Obi, who performed the function within St. Martin Catholic Hospital premises, also presented a cheque of thirty million Naira being the total sum required to complete the project.

The event signified the commencement of the building of a total of 11 maternity complexes in remote parts of the State to improve maternal and child health.

Part of the fund for the projects was from the prize money won by the State as the best on immunization coverage from Bill and Millinda Gate Foundation competition.

Governor Obi said the project was in partnership with the Church to bring quality healthcare services down to the grassroot.

According to him, the State government would embark on major infrastructural development of the area, while St. Patrick’s Secondary School Ugwuagba would before 13th    of December receive a school bus, about two million naira for laboratories and library as well as forty computer sets with complete accessories.

The Governor urged the church to accelerate work to ensure early completion of the project.
