The resignation of Col. Tony Nyiam (rtd) from the Presidential Advisory Committee on National Dialogue has been accepted by President Goodluck Jonathan, who has since approved the appointment of Chief Solomon Asemota (SAN) as his replacement.

Recall that Mr. Asemota was first nominated by legal luminary and elder statesman, Prof. Ben Nwabueze (SAN) as his replacement on the dialogue committee following his state of poor health but the President rather chose another candidate in the person of Prof. Anya O. Anya.

Mr. Asemota’s appointment to the committee was contained in a statement signed on Tuesday by Mr Sam Nwaobasi, the Special Assistant on Media to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Pius Anyim.

The statement said that Asemota would assume duties with the committee on Wednesday.

Mr. Nyiam, who resigned from the committee on Nov.3, cited his well publicized confrontation with Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State at the town hall meeting for the South-South zone in Benin City as reason for his resignation.
