Enyimba, Wolves, Want 3SC’s ‘Mr. Controversy’, Salami

Controversial 3SC striker, Gbolahan Salami (aka Mario Balotelli), is currently being courted by three of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) clubs, Enyimba, Warri Wolves and Bayelsa United.

Shooting Stars were relegated at the end of the 2012/13 Glo Premier League season and with the Ibadan-based outfit set for life in the Nigeria National League (NNL), these clubs want to seize the opportunity to secure a deal for the forward.

Salami personally told supersport.com he is on his way out, revealing the aforementioned NPFL trio have all indicated interest in him.

“I love 3SC. Everyone knows that but with due respect, I am too good to play in the second division,” he told supersport.com.

“Those three clubs (Enyimba, Wolves and Bayelsa United) have all told me they want me for the next season and to be honest the decision I have to make will not be an easy one.”

The former Nigeria youth international said he is yet to make his decision concerning his immediate future but rates his three suitors as an “attractive” prospect for his career.

“I have played for Enyimba in the past and the fact that they will play in the CAF Champions League next season makes them an attractive proposition.”

“Bayelsa United will also play on the continent (CAF Confederations Cup) next season and I have a special relationship with the coach (Isa Ladan Bosso) who trained me when I represented Nigeria at youth level.

“Wolves’ former coach Solomon Ogbeide is like a father to me and it’s just unfortunate he has left the club. We will see how things go but I have not made any decision right now,” Salami explained.

The former Julius Berger, Sunshine Stars and Enyimba striker scored seven goals for Shooting Stars last season.
