Akpoborie Urges NFF to Line Up More Friendlies for Eagles.

Ex-Super Eagles striker, Jonathan Akpoborie, has advocated more top class international friendlies for the national team ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

While expressing his satisfaction with the outcome of the match against four-time world champions, Italy, in London, he insists such grade A matches would help instill the needed confidence in the players especially the home-based crop who may meet final selection criteria of the coach.

“This is not the time to over celebrate the little success we have achieved, but having qualified for the World Cup, we must make it a sense of duty to make an impact in the competition,” Akpoborie said.

“I am impressed with the result we had against Italy but the NFF must organise more of such games. We are likely to be in a group having more South American countries. So NFF can organise for the team to play about two matches against South American countries and may be one team from Europe. By so doing we could spring a surprise at the World Cup.”
