35 Year Old Father-Of-Three Shot Dead By Police Officer In Lagos

A 35-year-old youth leader, Azeez Omotoso, was yesterday killed by a police Corporal in Oshodi area of Lagos.

coporal-gabrielMr. Omotoso was fatally shot after policemen from Shogunle Police Station interfered a fight that escalated at a party held in front of the victim’s house at No. 28 Aina Street, Oshodi.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim did not attend the party. Mr. Omotoso was returning home with his wife and three children. It was then when an unindentified man, who has been arrested by the police, called Mr. Omotoso for assistance.

The victim agreed to help, and a police Corporal, identified only as ‘Awilo,’ got angry at his involvement in a matter that did not concern him. The officer reportedly shot the victim and left him to die in a pool of his own blood.

Following the incident, local residents staged a protest in front of the victim’s house, urging police authorities to ensure that the trigger-happy policeman is brought to justice.
