National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Victor Umeh has been challenged by the South-East zonal chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to reveal the circumstances surrounding the death of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, former Biafran warlord and APGA’s national leader.

The APC said it was challenging Mr Umeh to say what he knows about the death of Ojukwu because it recalled that he had reportedly threatened to spill the beans if the former warlord’s widow, Bianca, and Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi did not stop pushing for his removal from office as national chairman of APGA.

Ojukwu, who was the chairman of APGA’s Board of Trustees, BoT, passed away in November, 2011 at a London hospital, where he was flown to after he suffered a heart attack.

The APC added that Mr Umeh, after reconciling with Gov. Obi, had failed to keep to his promise of opening up on the exact circumstances that led to Ojukwu’s heart attack, and eventual passing.

“Umeh later swallowed his words and reconciled with Governor Obi, shortly after the Appeal Court, Enugu quashed the judgment of an Enugu High Court, which sacked him as the National Chairman of APGA,” APC said in a statement signed by the zone’s Publicity Secretary, Osita Okechukwu.

“But, as we approach the second anniversary of the passing away of Dim Emeka Ojukwu on November 26, 2013, it is now incumbent on Chief Victor Umeh to avail the world, as he promised in the newspaper report of the much publicized ‘Governor Obi knows about the shady circumstances leading to Ikemba’s heart attack and subsequent death’”.

The APC also accused Governor Obi of planning to blackmail its governorship candidate for the November 16 elections in the state, Dr. Chris Ngige, by using the annual Ofala festival of the Obi of Onitsha, Nnaemeka Achebe.

The APC appealed to Anambrarians to use records of past performances to determine the right person for the job of governor come November 16, when the elections will take place.

The party noted that Ngige, who presently represents Anambra Central in the Senate, did not only perform during his brief stint as governor of the state between 2003 and 2006, but was also a cultured person, who would never disrespect the Onitsha monarch.

“We are worried that Governor Peter Obi is becoming excessively desperate in the face of the collapse of his propaganda machine, being fully aware that he achieved merely seven percent performance of the Senator Ngige’s blue-print in seven years,” the party said.

“It could be recalled that penultimate week, when Governor Fashola apologized to Ndigbo over the deportation of 14 Igbos, Governor Peter Obi felt disarmed and went ahead to persuade Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leadership to replace Comrade Tony Nwoye in INEC list.

“Now that Nwoye had gone to court, the only propaganda card left was to use the annual Ofala festival of Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, Agbogidi, Obi of Onitsha to blackmail Senator Chris Ngige.”

APC admonished Mr Obi to concentrate on the task of preparing his hand over notes rather than attacking Mr. Ngige.

“Otherwise we would be forced to remind the good people of Anambra State and indeed Nigerians of the infamous monthly N250 million money haulage to Lagos by Governor Obi and the much-expected bombshell from Chief Victor Umeh on the shady circumstances surrounding the demise of Gburugburu Dikedioranma Ndigbo, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumuegwu Ojukwu, Ikemba Nnewi.”
