Plane Crash: Femi Fani-Kayode’s A Huge Disgrace, Mentally Unstable – PDP

fani-kayode12The Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, has described former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani Kayode as a nut case and “huge disgrace”, whose only claim to fame is his father’s name.

The ruling party was reacting to Mr. Fani-Kayode’s latest article ‘Rumours of Sacrifice, Agagu and Stella Oduah’, in which the former minister described the PDP as a sick party led by sick people.

Mr. Fani-Kayode, whose article was in response to last Thursday’s Associated Airline plane crash in Lagos stated that, “whilst the charred bodies and burnt parts of the victims still lay at the crash site and before any formal investigation into the causes of the crash have commenced, the ruling PDP, through their spokesman Chief Olisa Metuh, has told the world that they have ‘full confidence’ in Stella Oduah and that ‘she should be allowed to continue her good work’”.

The former minister had gone on to call on President Goodluck Jonathan to sack the current Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, under whose watch, Mr. Fani-Kayode alleged that close to 200 souls have perished in air crashes in the last two years alone.

PDP, in a statement signed by its deputy national publicity secretary, Barrister Abdullahi Jalo, insisted that its exhortation of Mrs. Oduah was in order as it believed last week’s air mishap should not constitute a set-back to the progress so far achieved in the aviation sector, declaring that it would not succumb to what it termed “cheap blackmail” from Fani-Kayode whose numerous gaffes and shameless acts have become an illustration of the “bad and the scandalous.”

“This man has lived down all his father’s reputation and now lives mercilessly abandoned as a by-word for the negatively controversial, the bad, the ugly and the scandalous”, the PDP said.

According to the statement, “while Femi is free to keep relishing in his favorite pastime which is blackmail, immoralism and other serial anti socials, we wish to warn that time has far gone when
social deviants and other undemocratic rascals, unnecessarily take on the party and the federal government and beget silence as a trophy”.

The PDP added that it was appropriate to x-ray the tenure of Mr. Fani Kayode as the Minister of Aviation between November 2006 and May, 2007 so that Nigerians can come face to face with a clear picture of a physician that could not heal himself.

“In a very short space of six months that Femi was Minister, he posted an enviable record in tribalism and nepotism when he employed a record 45 managers for different parastatals under the Aviation Ministry from his native Osun State. He went further to retire many officers of the director cadre, replacing them with incompetent cronies, girl friends and concubines.

“Femi did not stop there. Nigerians will recall that his Special Assistant was caught at the Airport while ferrying obscene sums of money on his behalf. Unfortunately, a cover up quickly and successfully came in between. Besides, many utility vehicles of the ministry mysteriously surfaced in Ghana where they were converted to domestic use by his family and concubines. Uproar in the Ministry led the EFCC to later recover some of them.

“Nigerians have not forgotten the suspension of the Managing Director of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Alhaji Yusuf by Femi for refusing to illegally extend the concessioning of the Murtala Mohammed (local) to Bi-Courtney Aviation Services from 12 to 46 years. Though presidential orders restored Alhaji Yusuf to his position, it did not prevent Femi who unilaterally, without presidential approval, granted the extension”.

The ruling party recalled an incident at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, where Mr. Fani-Kayode, as a spokesman to former President Olusegun Obasanjo refused to be scanned but the then General Manager, which it identified simply as Mr. Taiwo, insisted that the proper thing be done and the then presidential aide was scanned.

According to the statement, “Femi had his proverbial pound flesh when he assumed office as Minister. He did not only redeploy Taiwo, he also frustrated him out of the service”.

The PDP further claimed that it took the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, years to offset the hundreds of millions of naira in debts purportedly incurred by the former minister arising from his penchant for accommodating his concubines in permanent suites in hotels whenever he was organizing any of his “noisy street parties in Lagos.”

The statement, which labeled the former minister a “huge disgrace,” also recalled that the Senate Committee on Aviation in 2009 recommended that Mr. Fani-Kayode should be barred from holding any public office for the next five years over his misappropriation of public funds and abuse of office.

“Do we recount here serial immoralism that Femi has professed and confessed to in the social media, prompting many to ask whether he has a wife, children, indeed family and what this Pharisee Christian teaches them?” the statement asked.

The PDP vowed that as long as it remained in power, people like Fani-Kayode, who ride to public consciousness on the back of their parents’ pedigree, will never be appointed to any position of authority just as it promised to “engineer a process through the National Assembly where nominees to federal offices must undergo a psychiatric test”.
