Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu of Niger State has raised the alarm over a plot by some disgruntled politicians from the state, whose plan is to create problems after collecting money from Abuja, following his membership of the faction of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) led by Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje.

He also declared that the North is not afraid of taking part in the proposed national conference, saying that the region will go to the conference to discuss the future of the country.

Mr. Aliyu, who spoke made this known at a brief ceremony to distribute 50 buses from the Subsidy Re-investment Programme (SURE-P) to the 25 local government areas in the state yesterday in Minna, the state capital, averred that no part of Nigeria should be intimidated or feel intimidated.

His words, “We learnt that some disgruntled elements in Niger State are rushing to Abuja to collect money, they should run and collect their share; we are only saying that nobody should run the country and party like [a] personal estate”.

He warned that “if those who are collecting money to cause problem in Niger come after collecting the money from Abuja, then we are waiting for them both democratically and security wise”.

On the proposed national dialogue, Gov. Aliyu stated, “Fellow Nigerlites, Mr President has constituted a committee on national dialogue. You remember I have been trying to define sovereign national conference and national conference, I told you that there cannot be two sovereignty in one place that if we accept to have a sovereign conference, from Mr President to the governor to chairman we will all have to resign and give our sovereignty to that committee or conference.

“But we should not be afraid to discuss our future, to discuss our present situation, how we come about, where we are and how we want to move from that place. Nobody should be afraid to discuss”.
