Mourinho Doesn’t Regret Loaning Out Lukaku, Says “We Will Adapt” to the Situation in Qatar.

Jose Mourinho does not regret loaning out Romelu Lukaku, despite the inability of his frontmen to get on the Premier League’s scorers’ sheet and does not want to be distracted with talks of a winter World Cup in 2022.

Discussions about moving the 2022 Qatar World Cup from the northern hemisphere summer to the northern hemisphere winter has reached its boiling point as European football clubs, who are wary of the mayhem it would cause to international football calendar, and all the associated commercial and media contractors have wedged in to make their voices heard.

Nevertheless, Mourinho believes the football people “will adapt to the situation,” but thinks is too early to let the issue bother him.

“It’s too far (into the future) for me,” said Mourinho when quizzed on issues surrounding the 2022 Qatar World Cup at his pre-match conference.

“I hope at that time I am working in top football. I hope in that time I am a club manager and not an international manager.

“The weather is changing a lot so maybe when we come to Qatar the summer is in December and in June it is cold.”

Romelu Lukaku grabbed a brace on Monday for Everton, who are on a six league games unbeaten run, against Newcastle at Goodison Park. The Belgian was impressive for the ‘Toffees’ in Monday night’s 3-2 win following his summer transfer deadline day loan move from Chelsea.

Mourinho embraced the fact that his player is doing good at another club but said he doesn’t regret his decision.

“One thing is to play for Everton, another thing is to play for Chelsea,” Mourinho noted.

The Portuguese manager confirmed his team has not gelled enough for him to dismiss any fear of losing matches in the future but insists the Premier League title fight might as well go down until the final day.

“In relation to my team at this moment we are not strong enough to be dominant in every match and win consecutively. That is my point of view,” he opined.

“At this moment some teams are being helped by the fixtures, some are more difficult than the others.

“Manchester United have the most difficult one, immediately followed by us. I think by the end of November, that is the moment we will find out somebody is in a little bit better situation that others.

“I think this season can go all the way, and I think that is good.”

Chelsea travel to Norwich on Sunday in the wake of their midweek 4-0 drubbing of Steaua Bucharest in the Romanian capital. On home front, the ‘Blues’ have recorded 11 points after six games and are 5th on the log (W3, D2, L1).

But the manager wants his players to keep playing well instead of dwelling on results as they search for their first away win this season.

“What I like is my team to be active and not reactive. In the Champions League in the week, the team wanted to be active. This is the mentality I want and I always think it is more difficult to change mentality over tactics. It looks to me I have had a good reaction and let us see,” added Mourinho.

Belgian midfielder Eden Hazard is doubtful for the game at Norwich. He returned to training on Friday after missing the victory at Bucharest along with Kevin de Bryune, who was not named in the 18-man squad, and Marco van Ginkel, who is out for six months following knee surgery.

Fernando Torres is out for three weeks with a knee injury, although he would have missed the game at Carrow Road through suspension after his dismissal at Tottenham.
