Melaye Lacks Moral Authority To Call For My Sack – Oduah

Published

on

stella-cars1The embattled Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah has said former House of Representatives member and anti-corruption crusader, Otunba Dino Melaye, lacks the moral authority to lead a protest against her continued stay in office.

Melaye, who is the Executive Secretary of the Anti-Corruption Network, on Wednesday led a handful of protesters in Abuja to demand the sack of Ms. Oduah over her role in the alleged inflated purchase of two BMW bullet-proof armoured cars worth N255m for the minister’s use by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority,NCAA.

But the minister, who spoke through her Special Assistant on Media, Mr Joe Obi described Melaye as a failed politician having lost his reelection bid to the National Assembly just as he claimed that the former lawmaker is a protester for hire.

Obi, while raising some salient questions asked: “In the first place how did Melaye realize the funds he used in purchasing the fleet of over 20 cars which are numbered serially in his name?

“Secondly, has he accounted for all the funds he collected when he was at the National Assembly?”

He continued: “Ever since he lost re-election into the National Assembly, he has been involved in this business of offering himself for hire to organize protests. He in turn hires other people who join him in embarking on his phoney protests. ”

He maintained that Melaye’s protests were never anchored on altruism.

He continued: “I heard that there was some kind of disorder yesterday because he couldn’t pay those he hired to embark on the protest he led.

“For now the Minister is only answerable to the National Assembly which has summoned her to come and explain the circumstances behind purchase of the two BMW security cars. The National Assembly was elected by the Nigerian people and the Minister is only answerable to that institution” Obi concluded.

It would have been better if you kept quiet.Sometimes being quiet is better when you are confronted with an allegation you cannot defend. Your attack on Melaye is misconceived. Why not tell us Oduah is not the first to waste public funds because they are are meant to be wasted? Oduah knows better, she is quiet because she cannot defend it.

When issues relating to our national existence are brought fore to public dommain, the sensitive and more subjective ones are tagged and flagged to be sentimental. There are some salient issues which Oduah must prove to have been met in the purchase of d dual luxury, before casting aspersion on the person of the more celebrated Dino Melaye. She need to let us know the armoured Cars were budgeted for, meets the procurement act and purchased within the market price.

2023 Presidency: Bode George Cautions Buhari About Tinubu

Bode George, Tinubu

Chief Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party has warned President Muhammadu Buhari against supporting Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress for the 2023 Presidency.

Bode George made this remark in a statement titled, “The jamboree visit to the Villa: My Birthday Offering.”

The former National Port Authority boss warned Buhari against falling to the antics of those who would ignore the issues of Lagos State to engage in a needless scheming in partisan engagement.

Bode-George also condemned the recent visit of some APC chieftains, Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the State House, Abuja.

The PDP chieftain said: “The visit of Chief Bisi Akande, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Dr Yomi Finnih, and Chief Segun Osoba to the seat of power in Abuja is needless, unnecessary, veiled in some poorly hidden agenda that is woven in apparently self-serving ulterior personalised desperation.

“It is easy to discern that the visit is stripped of any patriotic progression, lacking in balanced national leadership, voided of a spirit of sacrifice and developmental vision. The very absence of Bola Tinubu from the jamboree screams to high heavens that the meeting itself is a covert placatory softening of the ground for Tinubu himself. I am pretty certain that in his very absence, Tinubu occupies the centrality of the discussion.

“I will advise Baba Akande who governed Osun State with principled, incorruptible leadership to kindly help us drop off Bola Tinubu at Iragbiji as he makes his way back to Ila-Orangun, rather than engaging in fruitless pleading sessions for a man who is fixated on a warped pipe-dream about governing Nigeria. He should pay restitution for the egregious stripping of the Lagosian coffers.”
