Ameobi in Contention for Newcastle’s Trip to Cardiff.

Super Eagles striker Shola Ameobi has recovered from his bout of flu and could return to contention for Saturday’s Premier League trip to promoted Cardiff, says manager Alan Pardew.

Ameobi has been sidelined since September’s international friendly match against Burkina Faso at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

Eagles Coach Stephen Keshi confirmed the experience striker will be available for the 2014 World Cup playoff match between Nigeria and Ethiopia early this week.

“Shola is fine,” the coach said. “He will be ready for the game against Ethiopia. I spoke with him last week and he said he is good. In any case, he is a very disciplined player who really wants to play for his country.
