Torres: Eto’O and I are Not Enemies.

Spanish striker Fernando Torres has said the arrival of Cameroon international Samuel Eto’O doesn’t pose a threat to his chances in Jose Mourinho’s starting lineup.

Torres was demoted to the bench in last Saturday’s Premier League loss to Everton while Eto’O got his first feel of English football since joining from Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer.

His arrival paved way for Belgium international Romelu Lukaku to join Everton on a season-long loan while Demba Ba remained with the Stamford Bridge outfit.

The 29-year-old Spaniard said the competition upfront wouldn’t have any adverse effect on either of his striking partners but will boaster the club’s quest for success this season.

“There is now more competition upfront but Demba, Samuel and me are not enemies, we are friends,” Torres told Chelsea TV.

“We are teammates and are fighting for the same target. I think it’s really good for the team.

“Eto’O is one of the best strikers I have ever seen. I played against him in Spain many times and you can see the record he had there with Real Mallorca and Barcelona, as well as in Inter.

“I am sure he is going to really enjoy this period of his career with Chelsea. He is training really well, I wish him all the best and will help him every way that I can.
