Ten-man Chelsea lost the Uefa Super Cup to Bayern Munich on penalties in the first meeting between both clubs since the 2012 Champions League final.

Chelsea played the final 40 minutes of the encounter with 10 men due to the sending off of Brazilian midfielder Ramires.

Mourinho believes the ill-luck has long been part of his illustrious career, sitting many incidents in his journey across Europe.

“At Chelsea (in his first spell), I played two or three times with ten men against Barcelona,” he said.

“I went to Inter and played a Champions League semi-final one hour, with ten men against Barcelona.

“I go to Real Madrid, I played again a Champions League semi-final with ten men. I came back to Chelsea and played a Super Cup final with ten men again.

“Go to analyse the actions and make your conclusions.

“I’m unlucky. Just that,” he added.

Fernando Torres delivered the opening goal after an incisive counter attack from last season’s Europa Cup winners in the eighth minute.

A third-time lucky Franck Ribery collected a pass from Toni Kroos before taking a right-footed shot from 25 yards which went past goalkeeper Petr Cech a minute after the restart.

With scores leveled at one goal apiece the game proceeded into extra-time.

Hazard slipped inside Philipp Lahm and then Jerome Boateng before firing a low shot beyond Neuer to restore Chelsea’s lead two minutes into extra-time.

Chelsea came within seconds of victory in the extra-time but Javi Martinez poked home from close range to set up a dramatic shoot-out.

After nine successful spot-kicks, Romelu Lukaku missed the decisive penalty with Neuer diving low to keep out the Belgian’s tame shot as Bayern ensured they pay back their Champions League final loss on penalties in Munich.

Meanwhile, Bayern manager, Pep Guardiola does not concur with Mourinho over claims the “best team clearly lost.”

“It’s his (Mourinho’s) opinion,” the former Barcelona boss, Guardiola, said. “I have too my opinion. We have played unbelievably good football. The best team won. We had so many opportunities to score.”
