Loss of Our Men Can Not Stop Our Battle with Boko Haram Sect – Civilian JTF

Despite suffering loss of more than 37 members in recent Boko Haram assaults, including 13 of them in one day, with another 30 still missing, a ‘civilian JTF’, operating in Borno State has vowed to continue its battle with the sect until it is wiped out of the state.

One of the survivors of the last attack, Sanna Mohammed, who escaped with slight bruises, claimed that they were determined in their mission. The vigilante member said this at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where he was watching over a colleague seriously injured in the Benisheik town attack in Kaga local government area

Speaking in Hausa, Mohammed said, “We will not give up and will continue until we triumph over them. Yes they have killed over 37 of our members now and over 30 people missing, we will not give up. And Allah will help us to win over them.”

He also appealed for full military back up in all their operations, saying, “You see what happened last week in Monguno and today in Benisheik, there is the need for full military back so that we can get the Boko Haram people.

“We only have clubs, sticks and knives and other local weapons that are not [the equivalent of] the AK 47 rifles they are operating with. This is the burden we operating with.”

Mohammed also commented on how the Benisheik attack occurred: “It was like what happened in Monguno. It was around 12 a.m. on Sunday. They ambushed us and instantly killed 13 of our people and injured several others.”

The survivor of the attack also confirmed that while the militants were trying to escape, the soldiers arrived and captured.
