The North West zone of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as misleading, the comment credited to former Kano State governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would trounce the party in the 2015 general elections.
The PDP’s position was made known by its zonal secretary Bashir Tanimu yesterday, who said that the statement by the former governor “was misleading and a distortion of verifiable fact about the strength of PDP in the zone saying the statement is a mere desperation on the part of the APC to distort fact in order to mislead by deception.
“It is critically clear that the Northwest Zone is home to the PDP since 1999 when the present democratic dispensation began. The Zone has always voted in favor of our great party and the statistics are there for everyone to see. It is six states to PDP and only one to APC.
“More than any geo-political zone, Northwest is 99 percent PDP which has the highest number of elected representatives as well as elected governors. Therefore, for the former governor to contemplate attempting to change the cause of history only exposes the myopic tendencies of APC’s chieftain in the zone.”
Tanimu added that the electoral victory of the PDP in the zone was earned by the quality of leadership as represented by the Vice President, Mohammed Namadi Sambo and six PDP governors in the zone.
