President Goodluck Jonathan has said that his administration will continue to do the right things that would deliver democracy dividends to the people in spite of distractions from opposition.

He stated this on Thursday in Abuja at the 62nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I reassure that we will carry on the mandate of the party based on our manifestoes so that no matter what anybody is saying, things will be on ground for them to compare what the PDP government is doing.’’ the President said.

He said that his administration was rehabilitating all sectors of the economy through its transformation agenda.

“A number of things that Nigerians almost forgot about like railways, we are bringing them back.

“And I believe that by early next year, things will become very obvious that even those who doubt us will not have anything to say.’’ the president said.

He said he was optimistic that by early 2014, it would become obvious to the opposition that the PDP administration was working hard and delivering.

He said that those who think that the PDP could not manage success would be disappointed at the end.

“And those who continue to think that PDP cannot come together, that PDP cannot manage success will be terribly disappointed.

“We will go to Eagles Square and take the right decision for our party.’’ the president said.

He also expressed satisfaction at the number of party members at the meeting, adding that it was an indication that the party was still united in spite of contrary view by the opposition.

He commended the party`s leadership and members across the country, its various committees, governors on the party`s platform and PDP National Assembly members for; “flying the party`s flag’’.

He described the registration of new political parties by INEC, as; “blessing for all of us’’

The President  said that the internal crisis within the PDP, was not peculiar to the party, adding that even in private institutions and families, there were bound to be grievances.

He assured that the party leadership would reconcile all aggrieved party members for the betterment of all.

The President maintained that what was paramount in the face of every grievance and disagreement was the ability to resolve such, which he said the PDP has.

“No matter the disagreement, no matter the interests, politics they say is a game of interests. We will resolve these differences amicably to make sure that every member of the party is happy.” he said.

He commended the party`s leadership and the various committees set up to drive its reconciliation moves at all levels.

Earlier, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the party`s National Chairman said that the meeting was crucial in view of the party`s forthcoming Special National Convention and South west congresses.

He added that in spite of its challenges the party had continued to grow stronger.

He encouraged party members to always exploit the party`s international dispute resolution mechanism rather than going to court litigation which, he said made a mockery of the party.

Tukur commended President Jonathan on the way he had steered the ship of the nation especially with his transformation agenda.

The meeting was attended by Governors of Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Ebonyi, Gombe, Bauchi, Zamfara, Adamawa, Enugu, Plateau, Akwa Ibom, Taraba,Kebbi, Jigawa and Cross Rivers states.

Kano, Sokoto and Bayelsa states were represented by their Deputies at the meeting (NAN)
