Tottenham Reaches Agreement with Valencia for Soldado.

Tottenham Hotspurs have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Valencia for the services of Spanish striker Roberto Soldado.

Soldado,28, a Real Madrid youth product, will be moving to White Hart Lane in a deal worth a club record £26m.

He is set to become coach Andre Villas-Boas’ third summer signing once he completes his medical.

“We are delighted to announce that we have reached agreement with Valencia for the transfer of Roberto Soldado,” Spurs said in a statement.

The striker scored 80 times in 146 appearances for Valencia after joining from Getafe in 2010. He scored 30 goals in 46 appearances for the La Liga club last season.

He made just 16 first-team appearances for the Bernabeu outfit before moving to Getafe, where he scored 29 goals in 60 appearances.

He was part of the Spain squad that reached the final of the Confederations Cup last month, scoring in the group win over Uruguay.

Tottenham have already secured Paulinho from Corinthians for almost £17m (the club’s previous transfer record) and winger Nacer Chadli from FC Twente for a fee thought to be around £7m.
