Taraba Acting Gov. Distances Self From Plan To Float New Political Party

Garba UmarActing Governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Garba Umar, has dissociated himself from an online report which listed him as one of the individuals behind the plan to form a new political party to be known as the Peoples Progressive Movement (PPM).

The acting governor, who reacted to the publication through his Chief Press Secretary, Kefas Sule in a press release said “As a transparently loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), His Excellency is worried that his good name is being dragged into the purported formation of a political party he has never heard about until now and views this as purely handiwork of some mischief makers”.

Mr. Sule stressed that the acting governor had at no point in time met and talked with any of the persons alleged to be spearheading the formation of the proposed political party and has never mandated anybody to do such on his behalf.

“The general public is therefore enjoined to disregard the listing of his name and office in the publications. His Excellency also restates that he is a happy, full time member and leader in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State, and remains resolutely committed to the principles and ideals of the party”, Kefas added.
