Security: Sokoto Government Donates Motorcycles, Uniforms To Vigilante Groups To Boost Their Morale

Aliyu Wamakko-Sokoto Government on Tuesday donated 100 motorcycles and 200 sets of uniforms worth N13 million to vigilante groups in the state to boost their morale.

Gov. Aliyu Wamakko, who handed over the items to the state Commandant of Nigeria Vigilante Service, Alhaji Ibrahim Maikwalli in Sokoto, said the items would be distributed across the 23 local government areas.

He announced that members of the service would be placed on regular monthly allowance, to motivate them in their voluntary community service, which had helped to enhance the security of lives and property in the state.

The governor commended the group for complementing the efforts of security agencies, adding that the state government would continue to empower them to effectively discharge their duties.

Responding, Maikwalli commended the state government for the gesture and assured that the members would continue to contribute to the maintenance of peace in the state.

“We will us the items for the purpose they are meant for. The members of the group are also religiously committed to the security of lives and property of the people.

“We will also continue to do our best to ensure the sustenance of peace and unity in the state and Nigeria in general,” Maikwalli, added. (NAN)
