The athlete, who finished eighth over 100 at the World Championships finals, was quoted by The Punch to have said he could switch nationality to his parent’s birthplace after the Rio 2016 Olympics.

“After the next Olympics I will maybe consider changing (and running for Nigeria),” Dasaolu told Punch.

“I’ve been on many family holidays to Nigeria, and I still have the memory of visiting Olumo Rock in Abeokuta. Yes, I would love to compete for Nigeria one day.”

The 25-year-old became the second quickest Briton of all-time over 100m at the British Championships in July with a 9.91secs finish time. Only Linford Christie has gone faster than Dasaolu in the history of British sprint.
