An Ijaw leader in Ondo State has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to stop playing up the crisis in Rivers State “with a view either to cause political distress to Amaechi in Rivers State or with a view to causing pain to our democracy in Nigeria”.

Hon. Isaac Kekemeke, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and also a former Secretary to the Ondo State Government, spoke in Akure while awarding scholarship to 24 secondary schools students across the state to mark his 50th birthday and the 6th edition of his yearly essay competition for secondary schools.

He urged Jonathan to ensure that peace returns to Rivers State to forestall national anarchy and stop been a vindictive leader as regards his differences with Governor Amaechi.

Kekemeke stated that the President has a duty to put an end to the crisis in Rivers, but his continued silence over the crisis is an indication that the President is in support of what is happening in the state.

He also expressed shock that five of the 32 lawmakers in the state took over the affairs of the state assembly and announced the removal of the Speaker.

“To me, there is only one House of Assembly in Rivers State, that Rivers Assembly is headed by Amachree not Bibi who is an impostor as there was no sitting to elect him and more so five can never be greater than 26.

“We have seen that 26 members of the Assembly have stood up to give their support to Amachree, so the other Speaker remains an impostor and that will be a threat to our democracy,” Kekemeke said

  1. Sir chieftain why do you people point false fingers on the president when the Governor of Rivers State has made himself god of Rivers State, going to court to get injunction from being probed nor impeached I belief that’s also part of democracy. A leader who never regards his subjects nor their desires or voice and no one sees it as a wrong form of democracy now that the real freedom of expressions has taken its place in Rivers state you all are accusing the president of being the master minder. Learn to bring both supposed party for reconciliation because I know some Traditional rulers of the state concerned went to Abuja but we wouldn’t be told its outcome if it fell on the Governors court to play his own part to restore peace in the state. These days no body preaches peace to warring parties again rather people take sides to blame the Strongest. Let’s be fair in our judgements please.
