Chairman of the Traditional Rulers of Oil Minerals Producing Communities of Nigeria, TROMPCON, Oba Lawrence Omowole, has kicked against the alleged exclusion of some states in the region from occupying key positions in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

The monarch said Key positions include that of Managing Director, MD, and Executive Directors Finance and Projects EDFP, but sadly, those positions have been rotated among some states in the region, while others are left out.

In a letter to President Goodluck Jonathan made available to newsmen in Akure, Oba Omowole decried the situation whereby the positions have circulated exclusively among Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta and Bayelsa states.

He said that among the four states, some of them, have since inception of the Commission in 2000, held the position of MD and the two EDF twice, while other states have been excluded.

Oba Omowole noted that among the four states, Delta has held the position of the MD and twice, the EDF; Bayelsa the MD and EDF; Akwa Ibom held the position of EDP twice and Rivers, those of MD and EDP.

He wondered why Ondo State has been excluded from the two positions despite being the fifth highest oil producing state in the country.

Oba Omowole, who is the Amapetu of Mahin kingdom in the oil producing area of Ondo State, said Ondo state should be considered for the position of “Managing Director or in the least the Executive Director, Projects.”
