A Nurse who allegedly poured kerosene an 11-year-old girl before setting her on fire has been remanded at Kirikiri prison by a Yaba Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.

Mrs Nkese Iroakazi was arrested and detained at the Bode Thomas Police Station after she allegedly set the little girl staying with her, Ita Bassey-Eno, ablaze for stealing meat.

The girl suffered severe burns and later died at the Gbadaga General Hospital after a week.

Iroakazi was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID and was detained there until Thursday when she was arraigned in court.

The suspect was charged with the murder of Ita Bassey-Eno. She was not granted bail by the court when she was arraigned.

Ita Bassey-Eno was taken to the hospital on JUly 27, but after the doctors’ effort to save her life proved abortive, as she gave up the ghost on August 2.

Iroakazi will reamain at the Kirikiri prisons until the next hearing of her case in October.

  1. Yeparipa! Kirikiri Prison is not enough for this kind of nurse o! Is this kind of nurse a member of the boko-haram squad? Only Baba God could heal the trauma which the parents of the girl are going through now. How many deadly nurses do we still have in most nigerian hospitals today?
