The League Management Committee has postponed the Glo Nigeria Premier League match between Kano Pillars and Akwa United due to the involvement of Pillars’ coaches in an auto crash on their way back from Ilorin on Thursday.
The vehicle conveying the three coaches, Baba Ganaru, Abdul Maikaba and Kabiru Baleria, collided with a stationary trailer after one of the front wheels burst in motion.
Chairman of LMC Nduka Irabor noted that the Kano side’s NPL Week 23 fixture will not hold and also wished the coaches speedy recovery.
“We have decided to shift the game because it won’t be good that the game still goes ahead. The coaches are human beings and we must show concern for what happened.
“I am not sure all the coaches would be able to recover on time for the game, so the game will come up at a later date,” said Irabor.
After defeating Kaduna United in the Federation Cup round of 16, Akwa United had waited in Kaduna because their weekend league game will be against Kano Pillars. They will now have to travel back to Uyo to prepare for their Week 24 game at home next week Wednesday.
