Impeachment: Presidency Attempting To Cause ‘Havoc’ In Nasarawa State – Commissioner

Published

on

Al-MakuraThe presidency has been told in very clear terms by the Nasarawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Innocent Lagi, to steer clear of the state’s politics and instead focus on the provision of basic and social amenities to Nigerians.

“The PDP government should blame itself for the failure of the Nigerian nation rather than ‘venge’ its anger on the realisation of the merger of Political parties in the country and the administration of the APC government of Nasarawa state led by Al-Makura,” he said.

The warning comes on the heels of an alleged plan by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP-dominated State House of Assembly to impeach Gov. Al-Makura for not implementing legislative resolutions.

Information Nigeria reports that PDP accounts for 19 out of the 24 members Nasarawa Assembly, with All Progressives Congress (APC) accounting for the remaining five.

Mr. Lagi said the APC-led government in the state had in the past two years shown appreciable level of understanding and respect for the rule of law in sharp contrast to the PDP-led federal government which allegedly flouts the rule of law.

“For the avoidance of doubt we are yet to see the presidency implementing the house of representative resolution on the removal of the SEC DG and redeployment of Rivers police commissioner,” he said.

“We challenge anybody to come to the state and take a look at our two years administration and compare with the last 12 years of PDP administration in the state”.

According to him, “we are aware of the plans by outsiders to cause trouble in the state not because it’s an APC state but because it is part of the region called the North”.

“Let me remind those who might be in the dark, both PDP and APC in the state have the same lineage when it comes to regional politics because we know where we meet, so those who want to use sentiments to cause havoc for the state will fail,” he said.

The Commissioner further claimed that Nasarawa indigenes that supported President Goodluck Jonathan’s candidacy in 2011 have not reaped the benefit of their support.

“Our people have made a choice and are ready to stand by it, because even our former leaders who made the choice for the Jonathan presidency in 2011 have been left to languish in taught with no reward or benefit for it,” he added.
