Bent, who made 16 league appearances for Villa last season, will reunite with Martin Jol at Craven Cottage, after first signing him for Tottenham for a club record fee of £16.5m in June 2007.

“Darren Bent is a striker I have always admired,” the Dutch tactician told Fulham’s official website.

“I’m delighted that he has joined us, he gives us pace up front and I am confident that he will add to our goals scored tally this season.”

The 29-year-old striker signed for Villa from Sunderland in January 2011 for £18m and became the top English goalscorer in the 2010/11 season with 17 goals, 8 of which were scored for Sunderland. He scored a total of 24 goals for Villa in 58 appearances.

Bent, who came through the ranks of the national team, has scored four goals in 13 appearances for ‘The Three Lions.’

Ranked at 21st on the list of all-time Premier League top scorers, he has notched up 103 goals in 245 matches.
