4th Kaduna Cultural Festival: Absent LGAs To Be Sanctioned – Yero

Gov Ramalan YeroThe Kaduna State Government on Tuesday warned that it would sanction any local government council that failed to participate in the ongoing 4th state Festival of Arts and Culture.

Gov. Mukhtar Yero, who gave the warning in Kaduna while inaugurating the event, said the government would sanction the councils as the administration would not tolerate laxity from any of its officials.

He directed the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Gambo Lawal to take note of the absentee local councils.

The governor noted that the festival was meant to promote culture, peace and transformation in the state.

He therefore stressed the need for the people to uphold their indigenous culture, “rather than borrow foreign cultures with their attendant negative consequences on the society”.

The governor announced that groups and individuals that excelled during the festival would be rewarded.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the five-day festival has its theme as “Culture, Peace and National Transformation”.

Yero explained that the festival was part of the state government’s efforts at ensuring peace, economic development and transformation.

The governor noted the important role of tourism in national development and reiterated the state government’s commitment towards investing in the sector. (NAN)
