Warri Wolves eventually secured a 2-1 victory over Akwa United on Thursday to set up a Federation Cup final tie against Enyimba of Aba which comes up at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos on September 15.
Wolves had to wait an extra day to know their fate after the fixture originally scheduled for Wednesday was suspended with scores leveled at 1-1 because of heavy rainfall.
Akwa United had taken the lead through Ukeme Davies in the 71st minute before the Warri club’s striker, Oghenekaro Etebo equalised in the 77th minute.
The match resumed on Thursday from the last 15 minutes. Gift Atiluwa scored from the penalty spot inside the last 10 minutes to secure victory for Wolves.
The final match against two-time cup winners, Enyimba, will be Warri Wolves’ first-ever Cup final in the oldest football tournament in the country.
