Palermo’s president, Maurizio Zamparini, has revealed the terms offered by Paris St-Germain (PSG) to Edinson Cavani and praised Napoli for holding out for a big transfer fee.

Zamparini has claimed PSG have offered Cavani an €8m per year deal. The Ligue 1 champions are reportedly willing to match the 26-year-old’s €63m minimum fee release clause and have already agreed personal terms with Cavani over a five-year deal.

“Cavani is a unique player,” Zamparini said. “He couldn’t stay at Napoli because he has to think about his career and PSG are offering him €8m per year.”

Cavani started his European career at Palermo in 2007 after a previous spell at Danubio and later joined Napoli in the summer of 2010.

He has since developed into one of the most sought-after players around in Europe, having been linked with the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Chelsea.

PSG now possesses the ‘Thrump card’ for Cavani’s deal and they are set to secure his signature in the upcoming days.

The Palermo president also praised Napoli for holding firm during negotiations and commanding such a huge pay for the Uruguay international.

“I have tested De Laurentiis to congratulate him on doing even better than I did (while dealing with PSG.) He has outdone the €43m that we got for Javier Pastore when we sold him to PSG,” Zamparini told Radio Radio.

“De Laurentiis had to make this deal. He did well to say that he wanted a transfer fee like this.”
