President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF), Hon Chibuzom Nwuche, has assured Nigerians of adequate security at the 2013 National Weightlifting Championship in Uyo.
Speaking in Abuja yesterday (Thursday) Hon Nwuche said arrangements has been put in place to ensure fans and participants enjoy the serenity of Uyo at the 6-day event, starting on July 29.
“We have contacted the security agencies and we are happy with the peaceful nature of Uyo and Akwa Ibom state generally. Gov. Godswill Akpabio is doing a wonderful job in the state and this informed why we took the championship there.”
He also pointed out that the NWF board is planning big for the coaches and that he would have a closed door meeting with them before the commencement of action.
Weightlifters from the 36 states of the federation will feature in this year’s championship, which serves as a build up to the forthcoming African championship in Nigeria.
