NNPC Assures Of Adequate Stock Of Petroleum Products

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, has assured of adequate stock of petroleum products for the country in the wake of strike by the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by Chinwe Agulefo, the Acting Group General Manager, Public Affairs, of the NNPC.

The statement said the corporation had more than 32-day sufficiency of petroleum products.

Ms. Agulefo said the corporation was working hard with relevant stakeholders to reduce the impact of the disruption in the supply of petroleum products as result of the strike.

She noted that the relevant stakeholders were already working with the union to ensure quick resolution of issues at stake.

Ms. Agulefo called on members of the public to refrain from panic buying or hoarding of petroleum products.

Despite the assurances by the NNPC, long queues are already being witnessed at filling stations in Abuja and some other parts of the country..

On Monday night, commuters complained bitterly about the almost 100 per cent increase in transportation and the too few vehicles on the road which led to a major scamper by the numerous commuters to get into the buses.

NUPENG began a three-day warning strike on Monday to demand for better working conditions for its members.
