House Help Arraigned For Stealing Employer’s Property Worth N10m

A 20-year-old house help, Christiana Jonah, was on Thursday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing valuables worth N10 million.

Jonah faces a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing, levelled against her by the police.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the offence was committed at Plot 1862, Abraimoh Kuku Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He said the defendant stole coral beads and wrist watches valued at N10 million, perfume and scarfs worth N15,000 and N27,000 cash; property of Mrs Adeola Yusuf.

He said the offence committed contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2011.

Jonah pleaded not guilty, and was granted bail by presiding magistrate, Magistrate A. O. Akinde, in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The matter was adjourned to August 5, 2013.
