Watford has completed the signing of promising young Anglo-Nigerian striker Uche Ikpeazu on a three-year deal.

The highly-rated teenage prodigy joined the Hornets having previously made 28 appearances for Reading’s U-18 side in 2012/13 and scored 28 goals, finishing the season as the country’s top scorer at the Academy level.

Ikpeazu, 18, born in London Borough of Harrow, joined the Royals’ Academy in late 2010 and had a loan spell at Evo-Stik side Didcot Town in 2012, scoring two goals from three games at the age of 16.

The forward standing at 6ft 3ins tall had an interview with allnigeriasoccer.com in 2012, he claimed he had not had any contact with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), and hadn’t made up his mind as to which of his two eligible nations to claim at the international level.

On October 9th, 2012, Ikpeazu scored a hat-trick for Reading U-18s against Arsenal, and then followed it up with the same feat against Chelsea, Blackburn, Everton and QPR in the same season.

The forward who is in love with Jay Jay Okocha’s on-the-pitch skills has been described by Watford’s Technical Director Gian Luca Nani as “a very bright prospect” which they really expect to “progress under Gianfranco Zola (Watford manager).”
